Mono Lake
I traveled through the Sierra Nevadas, and visited Mono Lake. The lake waters are very alkaline, and super saturated in salts. The lake is the remainder of an ancient sea that comprised much of Nevada and California, and is believed to have once been as much as 900 feet deep.
